1) Add the Google Calendar add-on
Open your Calendar settings.
Go to Add-ons.
Open the Add-ons Store.
Find Google Calendar and click Add to Site.
Once added, Google Calendar will appear in your Add-ons list.
2) Connect your Google account
Click Connect.
Choose your Google account and Allow access.
After a successful connection, you’ll see the status Connected.
3) Choose a calendar
Click Choose calendar (dropdown).
Select the Google Calendar you want to sync or import events from.
4) Sync vs Import (what’s the difference?)
After selecting a calendar, choose one of the options below:
Sync
Keeps events continuously updated.
Use Sync if you want your calendar to stay aligned with Google automatically.
Import
Fetches current events so you can add them one by one.
Use Import if you want to review events before adding them manually.
5) Synchronized Calendars
This section shows which calendars are currently synced.
If you haven’t synced anything yet, you’ll see:
“No synchronized calendars yet. Select a calendar above and click Sync to start.”
6) Google add-on settings
Scroll down to configure how synced events appear on your calendar:
Hide private events
When enabled, private Google events will not be displayed.
Hide event description
When enabled, Google event descriptions/notes will be hidden.
Sync categories
When enabled, each synced Google Calendar will automatically create a separate category in Boom Event Calendar, using the google calendar name.
7) Sync Date Range
This controls how far back and how far ahead events are loaded.
By default, it is set to:
From: 1y ago
To: 2y ahead
You can adjust it anytime (maximum range: 2 years ago → 4 years ahead).
Tip: A wider range loads more events. If your calendar feels slow, try narrowing the range.
8) Disconnect
Click Disconnect to remove the connection to your Google account.
Note: Previously imported events will remain on your calendar even after disconnecting.
Managing synced events
Synced events must be managed from Google Calendar (edits and deletions should be done there).
Free vs Premium plans
You can use Google Calendar sync on both Free and Premium plans.
Free plan: Only up to 10 events can be displayed. Sync will show events only up to your remaining event limit.
Premium plan: All events can be displayed (no 10-event limit).
Helpful Tips:
Use Sync if you regularly update events in Google and want automatic updates on your site.
Adjust the Sync Date Range based on your needs — keep it shorter for better performance, extend it only if you manage long-term events.
Hide private events if your Google Calendar includes internal meetings or personal blocks that shouldn’t be public.
Hide event description if your titles are clear and you prefer a cleaner layout.
Enable Sync categories if you use multiple Google Calendars with specific names (e.g., Workshops, Private Events, Classes) and want each calendar name to automatically become its own category.
